Situated at the northwestern tip of Pangasinan and Lingayen Gulf, the scenic town of Bolinao boasts of a number of pristine beaches regarded to be some of the bests in the province. An au fait traveler should have known by now that the towns in Patar beach tops the list of “must visit place in this part of the province. The white beach in Barangay Patar is a scenic spot ideal for tourism purposes.

Considered as a hidden treasure of Bolinao, Patar beach is a gem for the beach bums and the nature lovers as well. Though its sand may not be as pure white and refined as that of Boracay’s, its clear aquamarine waters and unspoiled surroundings are as inviting as any of the top beaches in the country. For travelers who constantly avoid crowded and over-developed beaches, the Patar beach of Bolinao is the best fit.

Patar Beach is surrounded by different hotels, it is not really easy to hunt for a good one because of the long travel, however, Hotelscombined.com can help you search over 30 hotel reservation websites at the same time and locate the one that offers the best deal instantly! But to give you a hint of how to go there, well, Bolinao travel is a 3-4 hour drive from Dagupan.

But before your get to paradise, you’ll have to encounter first a rough road that is really worth around 30 minutes of your time. The tourism infrastructures are not yet well developed but there are several resorts near the white beach. There is an old lighthouse that stands on a hill near the beach which is the landmark of the place. Going farther from the shoreline are cliffs and picturesque rock-formations. Moreover, the locals are friendly and helpful to the tourists. Certainly an idyllic place for a vacation get-away.

    Bing’s Beach resort has
    – Big house accommodation for 20 pax- at 8K;
    – Aircon Beach room for 4 pax – at 2k
    – Aircon Hotel room for 2 pax – at 2k
    – Beach front Hut with veranda, no aircon for about 4 and above pax – at 1.5K

    Contact numbers: 09282477501 c/o Grace or Mr. Bing

    Front beach is swimmable even during low tide.
    Can bring food inside.

    Don’t forget to bring beach shoes, otherwise, you wont enjoy Patar beach swimming. Durable slippers may do.

    Going to Silaqui Island near the UP Marine Institute where giant clams are being nursed, you must go to Bolinao poblacion where you can park your vehicle (beside church) and take tricycle for PHP15 fare (5 pesos per head) going to Arusan port. You may also park your car in Arusan port provided that there’s someone to watch your car. From Arusan, you can hire a boat for 4 – 5 pax at Php600. – 700. (gas is already included here). Along the way, you will pass the UPMSI fish sanctuary. Big star fishes and seaurchins (w/c we enjoyed eating fresh courtesy of the fishermen we met in the middle of the sea on our way to Silaqui; ) are abound. Prefer your trip to Silaqui in the morning for calm waves.

    Back to Bolinao poblacion, you may buy fresh seafoods (fish and oyster) for ihaw-ihaw lunch if you will proceed to Falls number 2 (falls number 1 is not being recommended now due to moss) . This is about 30 minutes from Bolinao poblacion heading the opposite direction (way back to Bani direction) but take right turn to Samang Norte. Samang Norte has rough road but very passable. BATOY, Mr Bing’s employ, served as our tour guide for a fee (Php500.). You may go without him as he may not always be available in the resort area. Locals of Bolinao will gladly assist in giving info.

    Hello there!
    I’ve just made reservation today at Bing’s Beach Resort in Patar for a family of 5 (4 adults and 1 child) at Php2,000. per night. We intend to stay for 3 nights on Friday (today is Wednesday) April 3 to 6, 2009. Budget wise, this is the cheapest among those I’ve contacted. Amenities – just aircon and shower. No hot shower, ref and TV. No swimming pool and other amenities. Can bring food inside. They ensured me a safe parking area. However, according to them, their Big House for 20 pax has TV and ref, but still no hot shower. Can contact Grace (assistant) at 0928 2477501 & 0921 2807142. They may require 50% downpayment for reservation. I would like to try this resort category if OK for my family.
    Via direct contact, Punta Riviera Beach Resort (has big pool and several recreational facilities and near Malino River (river by the sea) quoted 5K per night for 5 pax, though, a travel agency quotes Php5,800 per night for 4 pax, and additional Php350 for a kid. Treasures of Bolinao Beach Resort has +- same rate. Both charge corkage for bring-in food and strict in number of pax accommodation. There are also other good resorts which you could try, though. I could hardly reach their contact numbers.
    When you’re in Patar, it’s wise to maximize your rendezvous here. We will anyway intend to just use the resort where we’ll check-in to sleep at night and as a hub place for everyone on daytime. We intend to roam around the whole day. Per bloggers (thanks to all the blogs which have been very useful information. that’s why here I am blogging in return and hope this could help), one could visit other high-end resorts around the corners of Patar to enjoy the pools and scenic beauty of the place. Other things which tourists could do aside from swimming in the white Beach of Patar at the end of the road is to visit the Silaqui island, the Bolinao Falls which was just featured in Channel 7 three days ago (hopefully hindi ito tuyo when we get there), the UP Marine Institute where one could do snorkling and see the giant clams they nurse, the Enchanted and Cyndy’s caves, etc…
    My 2 kids and I with my relatives were here in Patar beach 5 years ago (March 2003), though, we missed to roam around because we just stayed for a day and had a lot of fun in the white beach beside the Bolinao lighthouse (which according to my relative, built in +- 1903. Bolinao is the hometown of my father. Sayang, I grew up in the rat-race world of Metro Manila. I wasn’t able to learn about this place long time ago and could hardly learn how to come back here). When we were here, I vowed to come back because it’s really worth it to visit this beach. At that time, (holy week) where several resorts are still being constructed, para kaming nasa Boracay; just don’t expect for the commercial amenities of Bora. Entrance and parking fees are very cheap. Suggest to bring cooked food. Like before, one could do ihaw-ihaw. We bought fresh big fish along the road of Barangay Patar before we reached the place. There were some vending native fruits in the beach area that’s why I am bringing alamang for hilaw na mangga just in case. There’s no resort in this area but huts (for rent) and poso and not too private shower areas. God willing (and we will bring along Jesus with us going there and anywhere for that matter), I’ll be able to take pride again of my father’s hometown which is God’s wonderful creation in Luzon! Ganda talaga ng Pilipinas!
